Owner: Thomas G. Twombly - President
About the owner: Thomas grew up in Austin, the oldest of four children. He graduated from St. Stephen's Episcopal School in 1979, and received his B.A. from Amherst College in 1984. He received his securities license in 1984 and has been a registered principal since 1986. He is married and has a son and a daughter, and two stepsons. Thomas is primarily responsible for the supervision and training of all the firm's advisor associates and associates. He is also responsible for overseeing the firm's long-term business development and marketing strategies.
Thomas also has an active life away from the office. For five years, from 1993-1998 he served as President of the 2300 member Austin Mens Soccer Association. He is still an active player. He currently serves on the board of the Austin Parks Foundation, and presided for the 1999-2000 board year as President. He is active in the St. Stephen's Alumni Association and in the Amherst College Alumni Association, and is a member of the Financial Planning Association.

Walter L. Wilson, III - Exec. VP, Operations
Walter came to the investment profession in 1985 via a career in opera. He majored in music, with an honors minor in computer science at the University of Alabama, and went on to receive his masters degree in music at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. After five years of performing, he came to Austin in 1983 to teach and to pursue a DMA at the University of Texas, but soon found that his true interests lay elsewhere. Prior to co-founding Lucien, Stirling & Gray, Walter spent five years with a firm specializing in corporate retirement plan design and administration for companies in all 50 States.
Walter serves as VP, Operations of Lucien, Stirling & Gray Advisory Group, Inc. and is responsible for all operational and compliance functions. He specializes in corporate retirement plan consultation and design, and is an expert in developing well-designed, effectively administered and clearly-communicated retirement plans for companies of all sizes

History: Lucien, Stirling & Gray was founded by three local businessmen in 1992. The firm has been located in the historic John Rutledge house, on the western edge of Hyde Park, for its entire history.
