About the owner: Small business owner, former teacher & Army wife, mother & grandmother! Being a very strong promotor of breastfeeding and its benefits to babies, mothers & families, I felt it was time in 1994 to create not only a clothing line for breastfeeding women but to fill a void in Austin for stylish clothing, foundations, and accessories for pregnant and breastfeeding women. I feel that providing not only a beautiful but useful product for women is very important but educating women about that product is also extremely important.

Products and Services: Contemporary maternity & nursing clothing, bras, & foundations. Breastfeeding and baby accessories, breastpump rental & sales, breastfeeding classes, and lactation consulting.

History: Special Addition opened its doors in November 1994 in the Corners Shopping Center on South Lamar. After 3 years, more space was needed, and the business moved to a larger space in The Corners. In 2000, more space was needed, and Special Addition moved to 38th and N Lamar in the heart of the Seton Hospital and medical district. Services were added and others expanded.
