Owner: Tom Hurt
About the owner: Originally from Midland, Tom relocated to Austin to attend UT where he achieved his Bachelor of Arts in 1984. After working in Austin for some time in the building and construction field he attended MIT and received his Masters of Architecture in 1990. Identified by one of his teachers as a student with great promise, Tom was invited to work with Behnisch & Partners in Stuttgart, Germany. While there, Tom completed his internship and became a practicing architect. After returning to the states he worked briefly on the west coast before coming back to settle in Austin. In Austin, Tom has worked on some of the most iconic buildings in town. Since 2000, he has run his own firm; creating projects which have appeared in books in Europe and the states, and have been featured in the Austin American Statesman. The American Institute of Architects has featured three of his projects on their annual Austin homes tour and bestowed honor awards on two projects. In 2000 Tom also began teaching architectural design at the University of Texas, School of Architecture as adjunct faculty.

Products and Services: Hurt Partners Architects is a full service architecture design firm. We take equal pride in our work from large scale commercial projects to intimate custom homes. Our staff has experience in a broad range of project types, but regardless of the project we always focus on the aspects of good design, working within a budget, and utilizing sustainable principles.

History: Hurt Partners Architects was founded in 2007, though the staff has been with Tom since 2006 through a previous firm. The staff of 7 Architects and Intern Architects has given the firm the flexibility to take multi-million dollar development projects through completion while still being able to provide a personal level of service to couples and families designing a custom home here in Austin. We utilize the latest in technology (BIM system) for product delivery which allows us to devote the time necessary for outstanding quality.
